Electric corporations must notify the chief executive officer or designated agency/department head of a municipality when an impending electrical emergency may affect that municipality.

Each notified municipality must provide appropriate notice and information about the impending emergency to designated media outlets, including electronic, print, internet, and other public media serving the affected area.

The Public Service Commission, in conjunction with the Attorney General, must promulgate rules and regulations to enforce these notification requirements, with input solicited from electric corporations and municipal officials.

Rules and regulations must establish protocols addressing the magnitude and severity of impending emergencies and protocols for public notification.

The act takes effect 180 days after becoming law.
