Amends Education Law Section 6541 to revise educational requirements for physician assistant registration, requiring a bachelor's degree or equivalent in accordance with commissioner's regulations.

Allows physician assistants who complete an approved bachelor's degree or equivalent program in physician assistant studies to satisfy training requirements without completing the standard forty weeks of supervised clinical training and thirty-two credit hours of classroom work.

Maintains existing requirement that physician assistants pass an examination acceptable to the department.

Preserves commissioner authority to determine whether applicants possess equivalent education and training, such as nursing or military corpsman experience, that may be accepted in lieu of all or part of an approved program.

Takes effect immediately and applies to new applications for physician assistant registration filed on or after the effective date.
