Grants an additional 10 points on competitive civil service examinations to children of emergency medical technicians and paramedics killed in the line of duty on September 11, 2001, or in the rescue effort that followed

Applies only to examinations for original appointment in the same municipality where the parent served, and only for candidates employed by the City of New York or New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation

Requires candidates to apply for the additional credit between exam application and eligible list establishment, with a minimum 2-month period to provide documentary proof of eligibility

Prohibits recipients from receiving the additional credit a second time after obtaining permanent civil service appointment, with exceptions if the credit did not affect their ranking or if the appointment was terminated during probation

Requires the Department of Civil Service and municipal civil service commissions to maintain rosters of all appointees who received credits under this section
