Amends Public Officers Law to add automatic office vacancy upon conviction of a felony or specified egregious Class A misdemeanors committed after taking the oath of office

Specifies seven Class A misdemeanors that trigger automatic vacancy: assault in the third degree, sexual misconduct, sexual abuse in the second degree, arson in the fifth degree, endangering the welfare of a child, endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person, and aggravated harassment in the second degree

Allows non-elected officials to apply for reinstatement to the appointing authority if their conviction is reversed or vacated, with the authority permitted to award back salary at its discretion

Amends Legislative Law Section 3 to provide automatic expulsion of state legislators upon conviction of a felony or an egregious Class A misdemeanor as defined in the Public Officers Law

Effective immediately upon enactment
