Allows three Sullivan County deputy sheriffs—Scott Galligan, Sean Grady, and Rose Ionta-Tocco—to elect participation in the twenty-five year retirement benefit plan under article 14-B of the Retirement and Social Security Law despite missing the original deadline.

Permits these deputy sheriffs to file their election with the state comptroller on or before December 31, 2012, if they failed to make a timely election for reasons not attributable to their own negligence.

Sullivan County bears all past service costs associated with implementing this provision, including a one-time payment of approximately $7,650 and increased annual contributions of approximately $4,500 beginning in fiscal year 2013.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
