Requires enhanced assisted living facilities to have a registered nurse (RN) on staff minimum one shift per day, five days per week to assess and monitor resident conditions and coordinate care

Allows facilities with lower acuity populations to employ the RN in administrative or other capacities if they can demonstrate residents receive adequate assessment and monitoring

Extends the same RN staffing requirements to special needs assisted living facilities that serve individuals with dementia or cognitive impairments

Requires the facility's staff RN to participate in decisions regarding whether residents can safely age in place and whether residents need discharge to higher-level care facilities

Gives existing enhanced and special needs assisted living residences eighteen months from the law's effective date to demonstrate compliance with the new RN staffing requirements
