Authorizes the town of Inlet in Hamilton County to allow sergeant John Harrington, a police officer, to participate in the optional twenty year retirement plan under section 384-d of the Retirement and Social Security Law, despite missing the original enrollment deadline due to circumstances beyond his control.

Town of Inlet must file a resolution with the state comptroller by December 31, 2013, certifying that Harrington's failure to enroll was not due to his own negligence.

Harrington may elect coverage under section 384-d by filing a request with the state comptroller on or before June 30, 2014, and becomes entitled to full rights and benefits under that plan.

Town of Inlet bears all costs associated with implementing the act, including an estimated one-time past service cost of approximately $40,400 and an increase of approximately $3,600 in annual contributions for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013.

Act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
