Requires insurance policies covering hospital, surgical, or medical care to provide coverage for supplemental breast cancer screening using FDA-approved imaging modalities (beyond mammography) for patients with dense breast tissue or those at high risk, upon physician recommendation.

Defines dense breast tissue as heterogeneously dense or extremely dense tissue as classified by the Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System established by the American College of Radiology.

Defines imaging modalities as FDA-approved methods used to screen for or diagnose occult breast cancer.

Requires all mammography service providers to notify patients in writing if their mammogram shows dense breast tissue, including information that dense tissue is common but can make cancer detection harder and may increase breast cancer risk.

Takes effect 180 days after becoming law.
