Amends CPLR Rule 3212(a) to require courts to set a specific deadline for summary judgment motions by individual case order.

Establishes a default deadline of 120 days after the note of issue is filed if the court does not set an earlier date.

Prohibits courts from setting a deadline earlier than 30 days after the note of issue is filed.

Allows summary judgment motions after the deadline only with court leave upon a showing of good cause.

Takes effect immediately and applies to all actions pending or commenced after the effective date.
