Authorizes Beth Barsamian to receive an ordinary death benefit under Section 606 of the Retirement and Social Security Law for her daughter Lauren Barsamian, who died October 14, 2005 from a workplace accident.

Permits Beth Barsamian to transfer Lauren Barsamian's prior service credit from the New York State and Local Employees' Retirement System (where she worked as a teacher at St. Joseph's School for the Deaf from September 2002-August 2005) to the New York State Teachers' Retirement System (joined September 2005).

Application for service credit transfer must be filed with the State Comptroller on or before December 31, 2013, with the transfer retroactively effective to the start of Lauren Barsamian's employment with the Teachers' Retirement System.

Member contributions will not be transferred as those funds were already paid to Lauren Barsamian's designated beneficiary.

All costs of implementing this act for past service are borne by employers of members of the New York State Teachers' Retirement System; estimated death benefit cost is $167,000.
