All plumbing and electrical work performed by independent contractors on school buildings or appurtenant facilities in Nassau or Suffolk County must be performed by licensed plumbers or licensed electricians if required by the local municipality where the building is located.

Licenses do not need to be issued by the municipality where the school building is located, but can be issued by any licensing municipality within New York State.

Licensed plumbers or electricians must provide a copy of their valid license prior to commencing work, or the general contractor must submit copies of required licenses for plumbing and electrical subcontractors if work is under the threshold in General Municipal Law Section 101.

No municipal permit or inspection is required for such plumbing and electrical work on school buildings.

The act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
