Commissioner of Education must make recommendations to the Board of Regents regarding CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) instruction in senior high schools.

Commissioner must consult with teachers, school administrators, teacher educators, parents, students, and other interested parties before making recommendations.

Commissioner must consider instructional time requirements, impact on other mandated courses, fiscal impact on the state and school districts, and other relevant factors.

Commissioner must provide recommendations to the Board of Regents within 180 days of the law's effective date.

Board of Regents must vote to accept or reject the Commissioner's recommendation within 60 days; if adopted, the curriculum takes effect no later than the next school year; if rejected, a report explaining the reasons must be provided to the Governor and legislative committees within 30 days.
