Authorizes Darwyn Byer, employed by Nassau County Police Department since March 31, 1995, to file for accidental disability retirement benefits under the New York state and local police and fire retirement system for an on-the-job injury sustained on December 26, 2002

Requires the State Comptroller to evaluate Byer's disability claim using the "full duty standard" rather than the "light duty standard" normally applied by regulation

Application must be filed with the retirement system no later than December 31, 2014, pursuant to section 363 of the Retirement and Social Security Law

Nassau County shall bear all implementation costs, including an estimated one-time past service cost of approximately $432,000 if the disability benefit is granted

Act takes effect immediately upon enactment
