Requires master plumbers, journeyman plumbers, apprentice plumbers, and pipe fitters/steam fitters to obtain a license from the Department of State before installing, improving, repairing, or maintaining medical gas piping in licensed health care facilities.

Medical gas piping installation and maintenance license applicants must complete at least 32 hours of classroom training on National Fire Protection Association standards and pass an examination from the National Inspection Testing and Certification Corporation or equivalent.

Medical gas piping instruction license applicants must be of good moral character, have at least five years of active experience in medical gas piping or related certification, complete at least 40 hours of instructional training, and pass a relevant examination.

Persons performing only brazing incidental to medical gas piping work must complete at least 20 hours of classroom training and pass a brazer examination from the American Welding Society or equivalent certification.

The Department of State may revoke or suspend licenses, impose fines up to $1,000, or deny applications upon proof of violations, fraud, misrepresentation, incompetence, or untrustworthiness.
