Requires courts to direct appointed interpreters to translate essential terms and conditions of orders of protection into the defendant's language on the record while the interpreter is present in court.

Applies to orders of protection and temporary orders of protection issued under the Family Court Act, Criminal Procedure Law sections 530.12 and 530.13, and Domestic Relations Law sections 240 and 252.

Specifies that court-ordered interpretation shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the order, shall not delay the order's effectiveness, and shall not constitute reversible error.

Takes effect 90 days after becoming law and applies to orders of protection issued on or after the effective date.
