Amends Real Property Actions and Proceedings Law Section 753 to expand the geographic scope of tenant protections from New York City only to all jurisdictions statewide.

Allows courts to stay eviction warrants and cost collection for up to six months if the tenant demonstrates good faith, cannot find suitable alternative housing in the neighborhood, and faces extreme hardship.

Redefines "neighborhood" in town and village court proceedings to mean either the same town or village where the applicant resides, or if school-aged children are involved, the school district where those children attend or are eligible to attend.

Updates gender-neutral language throughout the statute to refer to "he or she" and "the applicant" instead of masculine pronouns only.

Takes effect immediately and applies to any property recovery proceedings filed after the effective date.
