Commissioner of the Department of Economic Development shall form a six-member task force to develop a plan increasing interagency cooperation regarding the forest industry.

Task force membership includes the Commissioner of Agriculture and Markets (or designee), CEO of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (or designee), two forestry industry representatives appointed by the Governor, one local government representative from a Catskills State Park county, and one local government representative from an Adirondack State Park county.

All members must be appointed within 120 days of the effective date.

Task force shall make recommendations on expanding economic success in forestry, increasing communication between government agencies about forestry, and improving communication between forestry professionals and state agencies.

Task force members serve four-year terms, with vacancies filled for the remainder of the unexpired term.
