Prohibits the sale of any food product containing added melatonin to persons under 18 years of age in New York State, with an exemption for food products naturally containing melatonin.

Requires retailers to store and display melatonin-containing food products in a restricted location designated only for persons over 18 years of age.

Mandates that melatonin-containing food products be sold only to individuals who provide valid government-issued photo identification proving they are at least 18 years old, unless they reasonably appear to be at least 30 years old.

Establishes an affirmative defense for retailers who rely in good faith on apparently valid government identification and implement written policies to comply with the law, though electronic scanning alone does not satisfy due diligence requirements.

Takes effect 90 days after the bill becomes law.
