All plumbing and electrical work performed by independent contractors on school buildings or appurtenant facilities in Nassau or Suffolk County must be performed by a licensed plumber or licensed electrician, if required by the local municipality where the building is located.

Licenses do not need to be issued by the municipality where the school building or facility is located, but can be issued by any licensing municipality within New York State.

Licensed plumbers or electricians must provide a copy of their valid license prior to commencing work, or if the work is under the threshold established in General Municipal Law section 101, the general contractor must submit copies of the required licenses for plumbing and electrical subcontractors.

No municipal permit or inspection is required for such plumbing and electrical work.

The act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
