Authorizes the town board of Mohawk to extend the Town of Mohawk Fire District to include the entire corporate limits of the village of Fonda, contingent upon Fonda's board of trustees adopting a resolution abolishing the village fire department.

The extended fire district shall be governed by article 11 of the town law, with the board of fire commissioners holding all powers and duties specified in that article.

The Town of Mohawk Fire District retains its district corporation status and may maintain fire protection apparatus and facilities within the village of Fonda without becoming the village's fire department or falling under village authority.

The extension is deemed complete when the town of Mohawk adopts a resolution extending the fire district, while remaining subject to subdivision 1 of section 173 of the town law.

The act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
