Amends Civil Service Law Section 17, Subdivision 5 to require the Department of Civil Service to develop a statewide examination for Director of Facilities I, II, and III positions in school districts throughout New York State

Requires development of eligibility criteria for examination candidates based on qualifications and experience in accordance with Civil Service Law Section 50

Preserves the authority of municipal civil service commissions to determine promotion qualifications and announce promotion examinations for these positions, provided they remain consistent with statewide eligibility criteria established by the Department

Mandates that any promotion examinations for these positions must use the statewide examination developed by the Department

Takes effect immediately upon enactment
