Authorizes Darwyn Byer, a Nassau County Police Department employee since March 31, 1995, to apply for accidental disability retirement benefits from the New York state and local police and fire retirement system for a December 26, 2002 on-the-job injury.

Requires the State Comptroller to evaluate the disability benefit application using the "full duty standard" for a police officer rather than the "light duty standard" typically required by regulations.

Application must be filed with the retirement system by December 31, 2014.

Nassau County shall bear all implementation costs, including an estimated one-time past service cost of approximately $432,000 if the disability benefit is granted.

Act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
