Makes intentional release of sealed records by public officers or employees a Class A misdemeanor, unless disclosure is required by statute or court order

Applies to sealed records under Criminal Procedure Law sections 160.50, 160.55, 160.58, 720.15, 725.15 and Family Court Act sections 375.1, 375.2

Exempts individuals who are subjects of sealed records (or their estate representatives) from the prohibition on disclosing their own records

Allows public officers to discuss events within their knowledge without confirming sealed record contents, and permits good faith disclosures when a person is reasonably believed entitled to the record

Takes effect immediately upon enactment
