Town of Islip is authorized to discontinue and sell approximately 1.2 acres of parkland and convey it under terms determined by the town board.

Sale is conditional on the town dedicating replacement parkland of 1.28 acres for public park purposes in a separate location.

If replacement parkland has lower fair market value than the land being sold, the town must dedicate funds equal to the difference for acquiring additional parklands or capital improvements to existing parks.

Discontinuance cannot occur if the parkland received federal Land and Water Conservation Fund financing until the town complies with federal conversion requirements and obtains Secretary of the Interior approval.

The act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
