Prohibits the sale of food products containing melatonin to any person under 18 years of age in New York State, with an exemption for foods naturally containing melatonin.

Requires retailers to store and display melatonin-containing food products in a restricted location accessible only to persons over 18 years of age.

Mandates that melatonin-containing food products be sold only to individuals who demonstrate proof of age (18+) through a valid driver's license, passport, or government-issued identification card; individuals appearing to be 30+ years old may be exempt from showing ID.

Provides an affirmative defense for sellers who reasonably relied on apparently valid government-issued identification and successfully completed the transaction, provided the seller had a written policy to comply with the law.

Takes effect 90 days after enactment; authorizes immediate promulgation of rules and regulations necessary for implementation.
