Amends New York City Administrative Code Section 11-1308 to authorize the commissioner of finance to approve rewards for information leading to detection of cigarette tax violations, underpayments, or penalties.

Rewards may be approved for information resulting in seizure and forfeiture of cigarettes, suspension or revocation of licenses, or criminal convictions under Chapter 40 of the Administrative Code.

Rewards are paid from collected proceeds (excluding interest) related to cigarette tax administration and enforcement, including amounts collected prior to receiving the information if it prevents a refund claim.

Suitable reward amounts are determined at the commissioner's discretion based on facts and circumstances, but generally shall not exceed 15 percent of the amount collected due to the information provided.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
