Amends General Municipal Law Section 208-f to extend special accidental death benefits to employees of the New York City Department of Sanitation who die as a natural and proximate result of an accident sustained in the performance of duty.

Benefits are payable to the widow or widower or children under 18 years old (or students under 23 if the widow or widower is deceased) of eligible Department of Sanitation employees.

Requires that the deceased employee did not cause the accident by their own willful negligence and was a member of a pension or retirement system covering Department of Sanitation employees at the time of the accident.

Applies only when the widow or widower is ineligible to receive benefits under Section 361-a of the Retirement and Social Security Law.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
