Amends retirement law to allow correction officers and related personnel employed in Suffolk County to receive performance of duty disability benefits when injured by intentional or reckless acts of civilians (not just inmates) at county institutions.

Eligible employees include wardens, deputy wardens, correction captains, lieutenants, sergeants, investigators, and correction officers who sustain documented injuries after enactment.

Disability benefit equals 75% of final average salary less workers' compensation, consistent with existing performance of duty provisions under sections 63 and 64 of retirement law.

Past service implementation costs estimated at $1.21 million, with Suffolk County able to amortize over 15 years ($124,000 annually), plus approximately $200,000 in increased annual contributions for fiscal year 2017.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
