Law enforcement agencies must submit all sexual offense evidence kits to a forensic laboratory within ten days of receipt.

Forensic laboratories must develop DNA profiles (CODIS eligible) from tested evidence within 90 days and report results to the submitting agency and prosecutor.

Agencies with untested kits in custody prior to enactment must submit them to a forensic laboratory within 180 days; labs must process these within 120 days and report results within 90 days of profile development.

Forensic laboratories and law enforcement agencies must report quarterly to the state division on the number of kits received, processed, and not processed, as well as processing timelines.

The state division must educate and ensure awareness among all law enforcement agencies and forensic laboratories regarding these kit processing requirements.
