Amends Public Service Law Section 76 to include volunteer fire companies and volunteer ambulance companies in rate protections previously limited to veterans' organizations and religious bodies.

Prohibits gas and electric corporations and municipalities from charging volunteer fire companies and volunteer ambulance companies rates higher than domestic consumer rates for single-phase service in the same village, town, or municipality.

Applies the rate protection to gas or electric service used exclusively in connection with volunteer fire company or volunteer ambulance company operations.

Takes effect on the thirtieth day after becoming law.
