Mandated reporters must report allegations of reportable incidents to a 911 operator, the county district attorney's office, and the vulnerable persons' central register immediately upon discovery.

Human services professionals who knowingly and willfully fail to report suspected abuse or neglect to a 911 operator, county district attorney's office, and the vulnerable persons' central register shall be guilty of a class E felony (changed from class A misdemeanor).

Mandated reporters who knowingly and willfully fail to report may be subject to termination and are civilly liable for damages caused by such failure.

All state and private agencies with mandatory reporters must retrain staff on reporting to 911 operators and county district attorneys, and update all training materials, websites, posters, and wallet cards to reflect these reporting requirements.

Employers are prohibited from taking retaliatory personnel action against employees who report suspected abuse or neglect or cooperate with investigations.
