Eliminates "sex offender requiring strict and intensive supervision" as a classification and disposition option under the mental hygiene law's civil management of sex offenders.

Removes the alternative of strict and intensive outpatient supervision and treatment, making civil commitment to a secure treatment facility the only option for sex offenders with mental abnormalities who pose a danger to others.

Repeals section 10.11 of the mental hygiene law, which previously governed the regimen of strict and intensive supervision and treatment conditions.

Modifies court procedures to remove references to the strict and intensive supervision alternative, requiring courts to determine only whether a sex offender meets the standard for dangerous confinement rather than choosing between confinement or supervised release.

Takes effect thirty days after becoming law.
