Repeals section 41.56 of the mental hygiene law that was added in 2017 regarding the adolescent suicide prevention advisory council.

Adds new subdivision (g) to section 7.07 of the mental hygiene law assigning the office of mental health responsibility for developing plans, programs, and services for suicide research and prevention.

Requires the office of mental health to implement evidence-based practices and use suicide surveillance data while considering the needs of different demographic groups, gender, race, ethnicity, and cultural and language needs.

Mandates that suicide prevention plans and programs be developed in cooperation with other state agencies, local governments, community organizations, and other entities.

Changes the effective date of the 2017 adolescent suicide prevention advisory council legislation from sixty days after enactment to immediately.
