Expands disability coverage under General Municipal Law Section 207-c to include county probation officers at the option of any county, not just Nassau County probation officers.

County probation officers who are injured or become sick as a result of performing their duties receive full salary and wages plus all medical treatment and hospital care until disability ceases.

Updates terminology throughout the statute, replacing "policeman" with "police officer" and using gender-neutral pronouns ("he or she").

Removes language requiring injured or sick employees to submit to examinations pursuant to subdivision two of Section 207-c as a condition of maintaining benefits.

Takes effect immediately, with provisions expiring and reverting per existing law on a date specified in Chapter 628 of the 1991 laws.
