Expands the definition of "family leave" under workers' compensation law to explicitly include bereavement leave upon the death of a family member.

Allows employees to take bereavement leave without providing 30 days' notice; notice must only be provided "as soon as practicable" following a death.

Accepts a death certificate as proof of need for bereavement family leave, eliminating the requirement for medical certification in cases of bereavement.

Exempts deceased family members from physical examination requirements that would otherwise apply to family leave care recipients.

Takes effect immediately but applies to policies and contracts issued, renewed, modified, altered, or amended on or after January 1, 2020.
