Expands the geographic scope of eviction stay protections beyond New York City to include town and village courts statewide.

Allows courts to stay eviction warrants for up to six months for residential tenants who cannot find suitable alternative housing within their neighborhood and would face extreme hardship.

Redefines "neighborhood" for town and village court cases to mean either the same town or village where the applicant resides, or if the applicant has school-aged children, the school district where those children attend or are eligible to attend.

Updates gender-neutral language throughout the statute by replacing "him or his" with "the applicant or the applicant's."

Takes effect immediately and applies to all eviction proceedings filed after the effective date.
