Adds new section 530.13-a to the Criminal Procedure Law requiring courts to notify complainants when ex parte orders of protection are served on the defendant.

Complainants must inform the court clerk of their preferred notification method (mail, telephone, email, or other electronic communication), and courts must use the requested method if equipment is available.

Police officers, peace officers, or other persons serving an ex parte order of protection must immediately notify the court clerk that service has been completed.

Court clerks must then immediately notify the complainant of the service in the manner the complainant specified.

Makes identical amendments to the Family Court Act by adding new section 153-d with the same notification requirements for ex parte orders of protection in family court proceedings; takes effect 60 days after enactment.
