Commissioner of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision must conduct a study of hepatitis C surveillance, prevention, treatment, and prevalence among inmates in consultation with the Department of Health

Study must identify procedural, regulatory, legislative, or budgetary obstacles to effective surveillance, prevention, and treatment of hepatitis C in the inmate population

Department must submit a report to the governor and legislature with findings, conclusions, and legislative recommendations no later than one year after the act takes effect

Department is authorized to request and receive facilities, resources, and data from any state department, division, board, bureau, commission, or agency to conduct the study

Act takes effect immediately upon enactment
