Amends retirement and social security law to allow deputy sheriffs certified as police officers by the New York City Police Department to be included as members in certain retirement plans.

Expands the definition of eligible deputy sheriffs to include those certified by the NYPD upon satisfactory completion of the basic training program and graduation from the New York City Police Academy, in addition to those certified by the municipal police council.

Applies the expanded certification requirement to three sections of retirement law (sections 550, 551, and 552) governing creditable service on 20 or 25 year retirement plans for sheriffs.

Allows participating employers to elect on a form filed with the comptroller to include service performed by NYPD-certified deputy sheriffs as creditable service toward retirement benefits.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment; expected to impact very few members with minimal cost to the retirement system.
