Requires newly hired infection preventionists without prior experience to obtain CIC certification within 36 months of hire.

Permits hospitals to hire non-certified individuals if a diligent recruitment effort fails to find qualified candidates, provided the person obtains CIC credentials within three years of employment.

Requires hospitals to verify employment dates of infection preventionists upon request from other hospitals or the individual themselves, and allows healthcare professionals to perform infection prevention tasks within their licensed scope of practice.
