Commissioner of Health, in conjunction with the Charles D. Cook Office of Rural Health, shall conduct a study analyzing adequacy of health networks and delivery of gerontologic and senior health care services statewide.

Study must evaluate access to care and specialized practitioners in all areas, with focus on identifying underserved or unserved areas and at-risk senior populations.

Study shall examine transportation concerns, telehealth and telemedicine utilization in seniors, availability of specialized practitioners, and chronic diseases requiring additional education and services.

Study shall review incentive options at state, federal, and other state levels to encourage physicians and nurse practitioners to practice gerontology, including potential incorporation into primary care practitioner scholarship programs.

Commissioner shall deliver report with recommendations to the governor, senate temporary president, and assembly speaker no later than October 1, 2019.
