Lodging facilities (inns, hotels, motels, motor courts) must display informational cards about human trafficking victim services in public restrooms, guest rooms, and near public entrances in plain view and conspicuous locations.

Informational cards can be developed by the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance in consultation with the New York State Interagency Task Force on Human Trafficking, the United States Department of Homeland Security, or the lodging facility itself.

All informational cards must contain only information concerning services for human trafficking victims and must prominently display the national human trafficking hotline telephone number.

Exemptions apply to establishments with five or fewer rooms for rent that are occupied as a residence by the proprietor, and to establishments treated as dwelling units under state or local law.

The act takes effect 60 days after becoming law.
