Requires the Department of Correction and Community Supervision to engage in comprehensive discharge planning to help inmates secure housing prior to release to community supervision.

Mandates the department to explore all types of housing resources available and potentially available to each inmate before release.

Requires the department to reimburse local social services districts for the cost of temporary shelter housing when discharge planning results in release to shelter facilities regulated under 18 NYCRR Parts 491 and 900.

Requires the department to provide local social services districts with a detailed discharge planning report 30 days before release to temporary shelter housing.

Requires the department to submit monthly reports to local social services districts for 30 days after discharge describing continuing assistance provided to help the inmate obtain permanent housing that complies with parole terms.
