Dental telehealth services must adhere to the same standards of appropriate patient care required in other dental health care settings, including patient examination, x-rays, and review of medical and dental history.

All dental telehealth providers must identify themselves to patients and provide their New York state license number.

Dental telehealth providers are prohibited from waiving liability for telehealth services in advance or preventing patients from filing complaints with governmental agencies.

Nothing in the law permits unlicensed persons to provide services that require a license, registration, certification, or other authorization under New York Education Law.

The act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
