Allows the Fire Island Pines fire department to adopt a resolution to hold nomination meetings for chief and assistant chiefs on the second Saturday in September, instead of the default April date.

Permits the board of fire commissioners to adopt rules allowing future nomination meetings to be held on the second Saturday in September as specified in the fire department resolution.

Maintains existing requirements that all nominees must be fire department members and that nominations be made by ballot.

Preserves the option for the fire department to later adopt a resolution recommending a return to April nomination meetings.

Takes effect on the ninetieth day after becoming law.
