Commissioner of Education must make recommendations to the Board of Regents for adopting climate science instruction in senior high schools

Instruction must include effects of greenhouse gases, use of recent materials and methodologies, limitations on emissions and renewable energy targets from Chapter 106 of the Laws of 2019, and other relevant climate science topics

Commissioner must seek input from teachers, administrators, educators, parents, students, and interested parties before making recommendations, and must consider instructional time impacts, fiscal effects, and other relevant factors

Commissioner must provide recommendation to Board of Regents within 180 days of effective date; Board of Regents must vote to accept or reject within 60 days of receiving recommendation

If Board of Regents rejects curriculum, Commissioner must report reasons for rejection to the Governor, Legislature leadership, and education committee chairs within 30 days; if approved, curriculum takes effect no later than the next school year
