Rome Police Captain Edwin A. D'Alessandro is being congratulated upon his retirement after 23 years of service in law enforcement, effective Thursday, July 30, 2020.

Captain D'Alessandro began his law enforcement career as a deputy with the Sheriff's Office and transferred to the Rome Police Department in July 2000, subsequently advancing to investigator, detective, and captain.

As an FBI-trained crisis negotiator, Captain D'Alessandro maintained a perfect record of resolving barricaded subject situations without any injuries.

Following retirement, Captain D'Alessandro will transition to part-time security work with the Rome City School District and plans to coach little league and spend more time with his wife, Alicia, and two children.

Captain D'Alessandro is the third generation of his family to serve in law enforcement, following his father Enrico (Sheriff's Office captain) and grandfather D. Antonio (Utica Parks Police Department).
