Captain David Mickle is commended for retiring after 27 years of service to the Utica Police Department, with his official retirement date of March 27, 2020

Mickle began his law enforcement career with the Utica Police Department in 1993 and worked in Internal Affairs, Uniform Patrol Division, and the Tactical Unit

As Administrative Division Commander, Mickle oversaw an $18 million budget and supervised fleet management, police recruiting and training, human resources, grants, IT systems, accreditation, and evidence processing

Mickle was promoted to Captain in 2010 and received the 2006 Ed Ruffing Superior Officer of the Year Award and 2014 Police Officer of the Year award from American Legion Utica Post 229
