Every assisted living facility licensed under public health law must maintain at least one automated external defibrillator on premises

Facilities must have at least one employee in attendance at all times who holds valid certifications in both automated external defibrillator operation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation from a nationally recognized organization

The commissioner shall promulgate regulations determining adequate quantity and type of defibrillators based on facility size, occupancy, and other relevant factors, and shall establish a phase-in schedule for compliance

Defibrillators and CPR shall not be used on residents with valid do-not-resuscitate orders on file with the facility

Assisted living facilities and staff are designated as "public access defibrillation providers" and receive liability protections under existing public health law
