Chief administrator of the courts must annually request judges and justices in state-paid courts to voluntarily disclose demographic information including race/ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, and disability status.

Chief administrator shall compile and publish aggregated statistical data (without identifying individual judges or justices) and submit an annual report to the legislature and governor by March 15.

Report must include separate demographic charts for judges and justices across all court systems including Court of Appeals, Appellate Division, Supreme Court, County Courts, Family Court, Criminal Court, Civil Court, District Courts, City Courts, Surrogate's Court, Court of Claims, and NYC Housing Court, with sub-charts by district or appointing authority where applicable.

Demographic data must use U.S. Census Bureau racial and ethnic categories: American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black or African-American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, White, some other race, and more than one race.

Reports must indicate the percentage of judges and justices who declined to respond to the demographic survey.
